Supply vs Lock on YLA

I cant seem to find an answer anywhere to what seems like a really basic question: on the YLA → supply → zap page, whats the difference between the lock and supply buttons? Do I supply usdc, then wait for the next distribution to happen, then lock? what does locking do?

Lock is the opposite of approve. Lock will prevent you from sending USDC tokens to this contract. You don’t need to lock.

I think this is very confusing for newcomers. Could we add a ‘?’ like we have next to DAMM which explains the difference?
